    Thanksgiving...at the parents
So as usual I am spending Thnaksgiving at my parents' house. There will be my aunt and uncle, cousins and assorted family friends. The food should be good. The company is another matter. Really at core is the realization that I really can't talk to many of the people here. There's my mother. That's about it. I've had a few interactions with my father that have confirmed something that I suspected for a while. The more I interact with the man the more I realize that I really, really dislike the man.

I can't wait to see my best friend after diner.

Hope everyone else is having a great day.

    Something that I miss.
There are somethings that suck. Having your sense of home, that feeling of safety, security, and comfort, be violated is one such thing.

There are somethings that are scary. Having that sense of home violated while you were likely asleep, is very scary.

In case you are wondering, yes these both just happened to me yesterday.

Having this fear and suck-tasticness shoved in my face and realizing that my base reaction is fight as opposed to flight is, in fact, priceless.

But you know, I would much prefer to have that sense of a secure and safe home back, even though on a rational level I recognize it is an illusion. Because now that the illusion has been disrupted, no amount of locks or bars, cameras or alarms, guard dogs or armed guards can fully restore that feeling.

I am not going to stop living and cower and fear just because of the actions of one A-hole. And, yes, this is the result of the actions of one A-hole. May this person never again know the feeling of home. Their hearth unlit, their bed cold, and their threshold uncrossed by friend or ally.

    Unkind? Oh certainly.

Fair? In my opinion, given what was so rudely taken from me, HELL YES.

    Free at last.
So good news, I'm done with my EMT class. I passed with a solid 85% in the course, and since my instructor hasn't called to tell me that there was something horribly wrong with my last bit of paperwork, I should just be waiting for a certificate in the mail. All this means that I get free time back again. And more hours at work, which I really need since the last car repairs cleaned me out. You know its time to get a new exhaust system when then one you have is bent into a u and not really attached to anything any more.

Saw my mother today. We went to lunch and I had a very tasty steak that was my EMT victory meal. Then we wandered. I have to admit that I was slightly tempted by the G.I.Joe action figures in TJMax that came with DVD's of the old cartoon show in them. My mother was nice enough to use her fabulous "senior discount" at the Salvation Army store to get me an old computer game. Then we went to Borders and I spent too much of my paycheck on self defense resources to make sure I'm ready to instruct at upcoming Polaris events. Classes are starting officially soon and I'm really looking forward to it. My mother and I ended the day the way we always do, at Baskin Robins for ice cream. All in all, a very good day.

In other news my Grandparents will be instate in a week. I am really looking forward to getting to see them. I am hopeful that my grandfather will not get at me to reconcile with my father. My mother thinks that he has given up. I hope so.

Anyway that's it for me for now. I hope everyone is doing well.

All around not a bad day.
So we had a quiz in EMT class today. Somehow I managed to score a 100% on it. This now puts my cumulative grade just over the line into the A range. Other than that, had trouble keeping awake in class. Really need to get better about managing my FOMS, and going to bed when I need to.

The new episode of Warehouse 13 isn't on the internet yet, which is a bit of a bummer.

Other than that, things are continuing apace.

    Hope everyone is well.

    ExoSquad Finished... or is it?
So I just finished watching all of ExoSquad on Hulu. I forgot just how serious it got towards the end. They were killing off secondary characters left and right at the end there. The most annoying thing is that the show was cancelled without a true ending. The last episode is very clearly on of those cliff hanger season finales. Lots of threads left untied. And now I have to find a new series to watch.

Oh well, something new that I can look for.

So its been a while since I actually updated. A number of things have happened in my life in the last several months that are worth noting.

I've started my EMT class and its been a lot of fun so far. I haven't gotten to do the ER rotations or the ride-alongs yet but I am looking for to them. The class can be tedious at times, but it has lots of useful information and is one of the most intellectually stimulating things I've done in a while. I have a test on Monday, that I need to study for. Need more study time. What idiot wnet and gave the day a measly 24 hours?

I'm still working at McDonald's. It kinda sucks right now. The new Angus Burger sucks, and it is drivng me crazy. And the major marketing push hasn't even started yet. I really need a new job. First, trainning, then job hunting. Soon.

Polaris is up and running. Our Summer Weapons Retreat kicked some serious ass. I need to get back into practice. Once again, lack of time. Thinking about trying to start gathering info for our blunt weapons ciriculum. Okay, so my initial idea was to develop an anti-zombie crowbar training program, but I suppose that it has other applications.

Not much going on in the gaming world. Most new computer games are officially too much for my computer. Just means that I have to go looking on the pathes less traveled. If people are interested there is a cool strategy game called "UFOAI" that is free online. Other than that I have been sucked back into an old game called "Star Trek: Birth of the Federation".

Other media that I have seen in summary:

"Transformers 2"- Kicked ass though more plot would be nice.
"Up"- Possibly the most tear jerking, sweet, wonderful adventure of the year. I cried 3 times over the course of the movie, and I'm obviously not ashamed to admit it.
    "WallE"- Very cute.
"Bolt"- I love Rhino the Hamster.
"Warehouse 13"- A great new series on Scifi, and you can catch the episodes as they come out on Hulu.
"Yes Man"- Kicks ass. Very fun.
    "Igor"- Twisted and funny.
"Exosquad"- An old cartoon from my childhood. All on Hulu. I'm amazed at just how mature it was for when I was watching it.
    "Star Trek"- Was totally awsome.

Looking forward to "GI Joe" even though I expect it to be awful.

My birthday was awsome. Thankyou to everyone who was able to go to the movies with me. It was a great night.

The only other excitement was that I was able to see my best friends Mark and Chris on Wednesday. We had a great time. I hadn't seen Mark in almost 2 years. I can't really describe just how good it was to hang out with them again.

That's all I can think of. Off to the land of studying for me.

    Be well all,

    -Auck

Feeling much better than I was for my last post. Things are okay though it looks like my car is going to need some serious maintainence soon. Another case of "Hello paycheck, goodbye paycheck" is my bet.

Been watching some things and thought I would share my opinions on them.

"The Pink Panther 2"-Not as funny or well rounded as the first but funny none the less.

"Watchmen"-BIG BLUE PENNIS! oh, and some moral stuff too.

"Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever"-Old and absolutely awful. Never see this film. This is the "Manos: the Hands of Fate" of action films.

"Godzilla: Tokyo SOS"- GODZILLA!!! Need I say more?

"Pushing Daisies"- A touching series about a man who makes pies and can bring the dead back to life. Very fun.

"Chuck"- Nerd gets U.S. intelligence supercomputer shoved in his head. No one knows why. Spies fight over nerd. Hillarity insues.

    Hope you are all well.

Things have been going okay. I am going to pay my phone bill tonight so that won't be a problem. Boy can I not wait until my next paycheck on Monday. On the bright side my phone bill should be the only major bill that I need to pay for the next several monthes, with the possible exception of the trash collection bill, but I still have to follow up on that. And if I manage to get my taxes done and in, I should be able to save a nice chunck of change before May.

One of the owners of my McDonald's asked for my e-mail address on Tuesday. He wanted it so that they could let me know dirrectly of any new products that were coming so that they didn't have to rely on my store manager exclusivly for communication. I am thankful for the effort on one hand and really like the trust it suggests that hold me in, on the other hand they could also promote me. Eh, I'll live.

Saw my mother today. We had a good time wandering Chelsea. And then we got our usual icecream. It was a good day. Father update, still an asshat.

So for those of you who haven't noticed yet, I'm on the board of directors for a new martial arts school. I'm looking forward to this a hell of a lot. I've missed Aegis for a while, but it has become clear in the passing monthes that I'm never going back to that, the school that I was a part of is gone, and the world should be clear on that. Now I just need to organize and start a book club. This should be fun. :)

There is also a fighting event at H at 3pm on Saturday. Movies afterwards. People should come and have fun and spread the word. Bring friends. Slightly bad for me because I still have work. Hopefully they will let me go early.

    Go Polaris!!!

I hope that everyone is well. Take care all.

    Hello Paycheck, Goodbye Paycheck.
Ordered more propoane today. No we won't freeze to death, but for my own sanity I removed my debit card from my wallet. Its not that it cost most of my paycheck, its that it cost more than my paycheck. Had enough to cover it and theres just enough left in savings to get by on until my next payday, but ouch. Also sad today, my mother didn't come out because of weather fears that never materialized.

In better news I have a spare pair of glasses now. They are the same as my old ones except that they are not as beat up as the old ones. I didn't realize just how much abuse the older pair had taken until I compared the two.

Luau this weekend. People should come. It will be warm. Very warm. And I will try to be concious. I haven't taken any time off work so it starts when I'm scheduled off shift.

In other news, I have been introduced to a movie called "Doctor Detroit" which is quite fabulous.

I hope that everyone is well.

    Survival Acheived
I have successfully lived through yet another worst-holiday-ever-invented-by-stupid-saints-and-the-hallmark-corperation day. Mostly by being at work and having one of the dullest shifts in memory. One of my coworkers faired less well. He had to quit after having a fight with his girlfriend and moving away. Worst holiday ever. The best thing is the day after candy sales. Tasty. The biggest disappointment this year was that I watched too few zombie movies after work.

    Oddly Appropriate Horoscope
So normally, I don't put any stock in horoscopes. But its hard to when you get one like this:

"Cancer: You do not want to passively sit back and watch from the sidelines as you wish to share in the creation of new ideas and projects with others."

Those of you who know whats going on in my life right now can see how I find this a little creepy. Those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about will soon enough. Vague? Yes. You'll live becasue I'm not saying anymore right now.

In other news, February is not sucking for the first time about 8 years. I've been seeing good friends and generally having fun doing things. The movie "Coraline" is really good and I reccomend seeing it in 3D. I have exposed many people to "Dr. Horrible" which has been a lot of fun. And I think that I have come to the conclussion on an internal level that having a horrible time of things just because of events that happened 3 and 8 years ago respectively is just stupid.

New pair of glasses is on order. Can't wait to finally have a spare pair again. Warm weather means that I won't have to worry about ordering more propane quite as soon as if it had stayed bone chilling cold.

Had my 3 minute and change long conversation with my grandparents today. They're still alive. Nothing horrible appeared on their physical. Tried to call my mother but she was out so I left a message on the machine, which is far better than leaving a message with my Father. As of last I talked to my Mother, not only was I in a cult, in my father's opinion, but she was in a religion. For those of you who don't know, my mom is in AA. Thats not a religion. But I suppose if it helps my father deny his alcoholism he can go to the early grave that he's digging for himself. So, anyway, I'm waiting for my Mother to call me back. In more productive news, I've also gotten a haircut, taken in my returnables, and cleaned the bathroom today.

There is a bit of a shit storm possibly on the horrizon, but everyone knows that its coming so we are as ready as we can be for it. And aside from that I plan to spend most of the rest of my day online, before going to Meijer, doing some much needed cleaning and moving my laundry into the dryer. All in all, a very productive day.

    Hope everyone is well,

Do you ever go out to dinner (at a sit-down restaurant) by yourself?

If Wendy's counts, then all the time. Its how I get internet. As for a sitdown, sitdown restraunt I do so occaisionally. Its usually when I have a specific craving, or am killing time waiting for something else to happen since going home and coming back would be more of a hassle. Oh, and if I need internet.

    Back Cash weirdness
So yesterday I was in back cash, taking orders and payment in drive thru for those of you who don't know and never wanted to, and the following things happened.

-3 people told me that I had a very nice voice

-1 approximately 14-year-old boy, by my best guess, tried to hit on me

-1 approximately 15-16 year old girl declared that she loved me, I believe in front of her mother or friend's mother. Don't ask me who she is.

What the hell. The first item on the list isn't bad, but the other two... WOW. What the hell were people on?

    I've had similar outbursts from people before, but not all on the same day. Some of the highlights include;

-being accused of being a robot

    -being accused of being British

    -being accused of being Californian

-being asked if I was gay in a manner that suggested if I answered in the affirmative a proposition was forth coming.

As best I can tell this is what I get for taking care with my words and announciating and having good diction while speaking to customers over a speaker system.

Dear hicks, please just order food and give me your money that's all I want. Thankyou and have a good day.

    Zombies!!!
So I got the game "Left 4 Dead" and it kicks ass. Even better, the multiplayer, which is what the game is built for, works great at Wendy's. Yeeha!!! Now I can indulge in simulated zombie killing at will.

In other news, I'm fine and things are going pretty well. And now there are zombies. Weeee!

    A less than satisfying start
In the first two hours of my day I managed to:

    1) Get paid.

    2) Spend all but approximately $6 of my pay check on a vital necessity.

    3) Lock my keys in my car.

    4) Be late to work while arriving on time.

    5) Get written up in a police report.

If this is what happens when I get up early, I think that I need to sleep in more.
